WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation continues its commitment to rural development and tribal empowerment by supporting the distribution of pea seeds to 1,000 Scheduled Tribe (ST) farmers across 10 villages in Karra Block, Khunti district, Jharkhand.
The initiative aims to encourage winter-season cultivation, improve agricultural opportunities, promote nutritional security, and strengthen the livelihoods of tribal farming families.
Reaching Farmers Across 10 Villages
The pea seed distribution programme covered Chaldandu, Sirka, Champi, Digadon, Dari, Pattamuchhiya, Guni, Dhanamunji, Ithe, and Kalamuchhiya villages in Karra Block. Through this initiative, 1,000 tribal farmers received support to encourage agricultural activities and improve their farming opportunities.
Pea cultivation can contribute to crop diversification, provide a source of nutritious food, and create opportunities for additional income through the sale of agricultural produce.
Participation of Foundation Leadership
The programme was attended by Mr. Jitendra Kumar Verma, Founder of WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation; Ms. Priyanka Kumari, State Coordinator; and the Foundation's District and Block Coordinators.
Their participation reflects the Foundation's commitment to working closely with rural and tribal communities and supporting development initiatives at the grassroots level.
WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation believes that providing farmers with essential agricultural resources and encouraging locally appropriate farming practices can contribute to stronger livelihoods and improved economic opportunities for rural households.
Supporting Tribal Livelihoods Through Agriculture
Agriculture remains an important source of livelihood for many families in the tribal regions of Jharkhand. Initiatives that support farmers with seeds and promote crop cultivation can help them explore better production opportunities and strengthen household food security.
The pea seed distribution initiative is part of a broader effort to promote agriculture-based livelihoods and improve the living standards of tribal communities through locally relevant agricultural interventions.
Collaboration for Rural Development
The programme is associated with a project supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, focusing on improving the livelihood, nutrition, and income of tribal communities through need-based agricultural technologies in Karra Block, Khunti district.
The project is being undertaken through the ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region and its research centre at Plandu, Ranchi, with WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation participating as a collaborating organisation.
WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation's Commitment
WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation remains committed to empowering tribal communities, supporting farmers, promoting women's empowerment, and advancing sustainable rural development.
Through collaborative initiatives and community-focused programmes, the Foundation strives to create better opportunities for rural families and contribute to long-term social and economic progress.
