Khunti, Jharkhand: In a significant initiative to empower rural handicraft artisans and connect them with government welfare schemes, DC Handicrafts Ranchi successfully organized a Chopal (Community Outreach) Program in Sodag Village, Khata Panchayat, Karra Block, Khunti district.

The program witnessed the enthusiastic participation of local artisans, women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Panchayat Mahila Mitras, Gram Sakhis, and villagers. The objective was to strengthen the handicrafts sector, promote self-employment, and improve the livelihoods of traditional artisans.

The event was attended by Mr. Pushp Ranjan, Assistant Director, DC Handicrafts Ranchi, and Mr. Etin Guriya, District Coordinator, Chief Minister Cottage & Small Industries Board, who interacted directly with artisans and explained various government schemes related to handicraft development.

Officials shared valuable information on skill development training, product design improvement, branding, packaging, quality enhancement, digital marketing, financial assistance, and opportunities to participate in national and international handicraft exhibitions. They encouraged artisans to adopt modern techniques while preserving Jharkhand's rich traditional handicraft heritage.

The program was organized with the support of WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Jitendra Kumar Verma, Founder of WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation, emphasized the organization's commitment to empowering rural artisans, women, and youth through skill development, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihood initiatives. He also assured continued collaboration with government departments to strengthen the handicraft ecosystem across rural Jharkhand.

A major highlight of the event was the On-the-Spot Artisan Card Registration Drive. Officials explained the importance and benefits of the Artisan Card, including access to government schemes, training programs, design support, financial assistance, exhibition opportunities, and marketing assistance. Eligible artisans completed their registration during the program, enabling them to avail themselves of future government benefits.

Participants also received practical guidance on improving product quality, developing market-oriented handicrafts, adopting innovative designs, utilizing digital platforms for marketing, and promoting group-based enterprises through Self-Help Groups.

The event was attended by Ms. Priyanka Kumari (State Coordinator, WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation), Ms. Jaysanta Gudiya (District Coordinator), Panchayat Mahila Mitras, Gram Sakhis, SHG members, and numerous local handicraft artisans.

The Chopal Program concluded with a vote of thanks, with participants appreciating the efforts of DC Handicrafts Ranchi, the Chief Minister Cottage & Small Industries Board, and WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation. The initiative marked another important step toward strengthening rural handicrafts, improving artisans' livelihoods, and promoting self-reliance in Jharkhand.
