WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation successfully conducted a two-day mushroom cultivation training program for Scheduled Tribe women in Digha Digadon village under Karra Block of Khunti District, Jharkhand. The program was organized with the support of the ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region, Plandu, Ranchi, with the primary objective of promoting self-reliance, sustainable livelihood opportunities, and economic empowerment among rural women.
During the training, expert resource persons provided comprehensive and practical knowledge on mushroom cultivation. The sessions covered all essential aspects, including preparation of spawn, selection of raw materials, maintaining appropriate environmental conditions, proper care and management techniques, and safe storage and marketing of produce. The training methodology was designed to be simple, practical, and easily adoptable at both household and community levels.
The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of women, who actively engaged in hands-on learning. During the training, participants successfully prepared approximately 150 units of mushroom cultivation packets, gaining practical experience and building confidence to initiate their own production activities.
As a sustainable outcome of the initiative, a mushroom production center was also established in the village. This center will enable continuous production and serve as a reliable source of income for the participating women, ensuring long-term livelihood opportunities.
