To promote scientific agriculture, strengthen horticulture-based livelihoods, and enhance farmers’ income, WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation, in collaboration with ICAR Palandu, organized a special farmer support and awareness program in Digadon, Patramuchia, Chaldandu, and nearby villages of Karra Block, Khunti district. Around 100 farmers received improved paddy seeds and fruit saplings under the initiative.

A special Farmer Support and Awareness Program was successfully organized in Digadon, Patramuchia, Chaldandu, and surrounding villages of Karra Block in Khunti district through the collaborative efforts of WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Palandu. The initiative aimed to increase farmers’ income, promote scientific farming practices, and strengthen horticulture-based livelihood opportunities in rural communities.

As part of the program, approximately 100 farmers received improved varieties of paddy seeds and fruit-bearing saplings. Each farmer was provided with 10 kilograms of high-quality paddy seed to support better crop productivity and encourage the adoption of improved agricultural practices.

The paddy seed varieties distributed included Swarna Samriddhi, Swarna Shreya, Swarna Purvi Dhan-1, Swarna Purvi Dhan-2, Swarna Purvi Dhan-3, and Swarna Purvi Dhan-4. These varieties were carefully selected for their higher yield potential, superior grain quality, and suitability to the local agro-climatic conditions of the region.

To encourage farmers to diversify their agricultural activities and develop sustainable income sources, fruit saplings were also distributed during the program. A total of 350 fruit-bearing plants were provided to farmers, including 50 mango saplings, 150 litchi saplings, and 150 guava saplings. Experts guided participants on scientific plantation techniques, orchard management, irrigation practices, and effective pest and disease control measures to ensure successful cultivation and long-term productivity.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Virendra Kumar Yadav, Senior Scientist at ICAR Palandu, emphasized the importance of adopting improved seeds and scientific farming methods. He highlighted that farmers can significantly increase productivity while reducing cultivation costs through modern agricultural practices. He also encouraged farmers to integrate horticulture with traditional crop cultivation to create sustainable and diversified sources of income.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Jitendra Kumar Verma, Founder of WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation, stated that the organization remains committed to connecting farmers with modern agricultural technologies, quality seeds, and horticultural resources. He noted that strengthening agriculture-based livelihoods in rural communities is one of the Foundation’s key priorities, and various farmer welfare and agricultural development programs are being implemented to achieve this objective.

The event witnessed active participation from Ms. Jaysinta Gudiya, representatives of WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation, Panchayat Mahila Mitras, local farmers, and members of the rural community. Farmers expressed their gratitude to ICAR Palandu and WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation for organizing the initiative and providing them with valuable agricultural resources and technical knowledge.

Participants appreciated the program for helping them gain access to improved farming technologies, quality inputs, and practical guidance that can make agriculture more productive and profitable. The initiative also reinforced the importance of combining agriculture and horticulture as a pathway toward long-term rural prosperity.

Our Commitment: Empowering Farmers, Promoting Scientific Agriculture, and Driving Sustainable Rural Development for a Prosperous Future.
