Under the project of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, a Farmers Training Program was successfully organized on 22 May 2026 at Digadon village, Karra Block, Khunti district, Jharkhand. The main objective of the program was to empower tribal farmers by improving their livelihood, nutrition, and income through need-based agricultural technologies.
The program was organized by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Eastern Research Complex for Hill and Plateau Research Centre, Plandu, Ranchi. WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation played a highly significant role as the supporting organization by mobilizing farmers, spreading awareness, and ensuring active participation from the rural community.
Around 150 farmers, women’s groups, and rural youth participated enthusiastically in the training session. Senior Scientist Virendra Kumar Yadav from ICAR provided detailed information about modern agricultural practices and listened carefully to farmers’ challenges while offering practical and scientific solutions for better crop production.
Scientist Ajit Kumar Jha delivered an informative session on climate-based year-round mushroom cultivation. He explained advanced mushroom production techniques, cost-effective methods, and income-generation opportunities through mushroom farming.
Senior Scientist and vegetable science expert Dr. Meenu provided detailed guidance on scientific vegetable cultivation. She explained improved seed selection, nutrient management, pest and disease control, irrigation practices, and techniques for increasing productivity. Farmers also received practical solutions to their cultivation-related questions.
During the program, Jitendra Kumar Verma, Founder of WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation, shared detailed information about various government schemes for farmers. He encouraged participants to take advantage of agricultural and self-employment schemes to become self-reliant and financially stronger. He also emphasized that WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation remains committed to empowering farmers, women, and youth through continuous awareness and training initiatives.
The event was also attended by State Coordinator Priyanka Kumari, Block Coordinator Jaycinta Gudiya, Panchayat Mahila Mitra Surekha Devi, Asha Munda, Juliyani Tirky, Fulmani Toppo, and Chariya Tirky.
At the conclusion of the program, different varieties of improved seeds were distributed among the participating farmers. The training proved highly beneficial and marked an important step toward promoting scientific farming practices and strengthening agricultural development in the region.
